In a letter to the Editor of the Courier-Journal published April 22, 2008, retired Brown-Forman Corp. CEO Owsley Brown says Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear has assured him that he remains neutral in the Senate Primary race. Brown urges Kentucky Democrats to vote for Greg Fischer, calling him, “The only candidate who will beat Mitch McConnell this fall."

NEWPORT - On previous trips to the region, the Louisville Democrat, one of seven candidates seeking the party's U.S. Senate nomination in the May 20 primary, mingled with voters by munching pizza in Campbell County, dining in Cold Spring and working the crowd at Turfway Park in Florence.He was back at it Wednesday, traveling to Gallatin, Grant, Pendleton and Campbell counties as he tries to build his name identification and support with voters who are still getting to know him.

PRESTONSBURG — United States Senate candidate Greg Fischer spoke to students during a government class at Big Sandy Community and Technical College on Wednesday.
During the class visit, Fischer, of Louisville, said he wants to “restore some common sense to Washington.”
Fischer spoke to the students in Julie Paxton’s Government 101 class about some of the problems that the country faces as well as his thoughts on civic responsibility.
Fischer says he was raised in a family where community service was expected. “If you can help people, you help them.”
